Everest Region (General Overview)

A trek to the Everest region is one of the most popular trekking routes or destinations in Nepal that not only provides the trekkers with the opportunity of unmatched adventure but also with the chance to see the peaks along with world’s tallest mountain. It is also the most sought-after trekking destination for adventure-seekers in Nepal. Beholding the magnificent view of Mount Everest, world’s tallest mountain peak, is certainly the highest point for trek. However, several valleys surrounded by heart touching boundaries of nature moves along with us as well as the deep & sound flows of water in the form of rivers comes along the way to the Everest Base Camp which makes our trip more fascinating & special.The popular region of Kala Patthar and the Everest Base Camp are some of the key sites of the trek to the Everest region. Everest Base Camp Trek travels through the majestic looking mountains clad with snow, colorful monasteries, the famous Namche Bazaar and the conserved region of the Sagarmatha National Park. As stated earlier, this also provides one the opportunity of looking at the Mountain Everest, world’s tallest mountain peak, from incredibly close distance.

Many trekkers believe that their Everest trek is incomplete if they do not make it to the Gokyo Valley, the Gokyo Peak, and the all-famous pass, Cho La Pass. The entire area of Everest Base Camp is blessed with great natural beauty. Besides the tranquil appearance of the shimmering glacial Lakes, we can also enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of the towering mountains including four above 8000 meters of altitude. From Gokyo valley, we can observe the world famous peaks above 8000 meters including Mount Cho Oyu (8201m), Mount Makalu (8463m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m) and Mount Everest (8848m).

Trek to the Everest region begins from Kathmandu where you board a flight to Lukla or the Tenzing-Hillary Airport from Kathmandu. It is a wonderful mountain flight and the flight itself can be no less than an adventure as the airport is enlisted as the most dangerous airport in the world, given the location, altitude and topography. The real trek starts from Lukla from where we trek to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest and then to the Base Camp, exploring the Khumbhu region. An alternative route is also available for those who want to trek all the way to Everest Base Camp without landing at the Lukla Airport. A trekking route from Jiri, not far from Kathmandu, to Lukla is also equally popular among the adventure lovers and trekkers.
