Tilicho Lake Trek is one of the beautiful trekking routes in Nepal as it provides the opportunity to explore and see the wonderful Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. Tilicho Lake is located at an altitude of 4919 meters which is close withscenic beauty of Manang Valley, Thorong Peak and Annapurna Mountain Range. Despite its immense beauty and natural splendor, Tilicho Lake Trek is little known among the trekkers primarily due to its inaccessibility owing to the topographic location. However, despite the location and the topography, every year many tourists and trekkers visit Tilicho Lake to enjoy the beauty of the region and the grand lake that is located close to 5000 meters of height. Some of the trekking trail of the Tilicho Lake Trek coincides with the Annapurna trekking trail.

Tilicho Lake Trek starts from Beshisahar, Lamjung district’s headquarter located to the west of Nepal. Beshisahar is located some seven hours drive from Kathmandu. After a few days of walk through villages by following Marsyangdi River you reach Manag. Tilicho Lake Trek is recently opened central trek in Nepal. Tilicho Lake Trek has proved as a source of earning for those people who have run hotels and guesthouses around the trekking trail. Tilicho Lake Trek is somehow alike with the topography of the famous Annapurna trekking route. It combines high peaks and passes, glaciers, lovely forests and unique Himalayas. There are lots of multicolored things that you can explore in this Trek. Tilicho Lake Trek itself is a challenging, thrilling trek and also known as one of the world’s highest Lake (4,919m). Tilicho Lake is the most beautiful region in term of bio- diversity and geographical position.

Day 1 : Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu.

Day 2 : Drive to Besisahar (830m) 7hrs

Day 3 : Drive to Syange and trek to Chamje (1400m) 5hrs

Day 4 : Trek to Bagarchhap (2160m) 5hrs

Day 5 : Trek to Chame (2630m) 4hrs

Day 6 : Trek to Pisang (3300m) 5hrs

Day 7 : Trek to Manang (3540m) 4hrs

Day 8 : Acclimatization Day at Manang village.

Day 9 : Trek to Khangsar village (3700m 4hrs

Day 1 : Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu.

Welcome to Nepal, the Land of the Himalayas! You will be guided to the hotel by a Great Nepal representative once you arrive at the airport. You will have the rest of the day to do whatever you wish to do: get some sleep, stroll around or party hard. Well, do whatever that suits you. Later, you will participate in a gathering of other trekkers and guides and also be handed over the equipment necessary for the trek.  


Day 2 : Drive to Besisahar (830m) 7hrs

It takes about 7 hours drive from Kathmandu to reach Besisahar. It is a friendly place in terms of people and their hospitality and also to view the foothills of the Himalayas from where you can enjoy the snow-capped mountains. (830m). Overnight stay at a guesthouse.


Day 3 : Drive to Syange and trek to Chamje (1400m) 5hrs

Syange can be reached by a four wheel vehicle and it will be an exciting ride for you on the vehicle viewing the natural beauty of the region as well as covering the distance towards the destination. When we reach Syange the trek starts off towards Chamje (1400m). Overnight stay at a guesthouse.


Day 4 : Trek to Bagarchhap (2160m) 5hrs

Our day begins with the rocky trail following the Marshyangdi River steadily uphill to Tal which is at 1675 meters and is the first village in Manang district. The journey continues up and down to Dharapani at 1890m. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.


Day 5 : Trek to Chame (2630m) 4hrs

The trail climbs to Tyanja at about 2360m, and moving on through the forest near the river, to Kopar which is at 2590m. When we reach there we are rewarded by the fine views of Annapurna II. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 6 : Trek to Pisang (3300m) 5hrs

The day starts through deep forest in a step and narrow valley, crosses a river on a long bridge at 3040m. From there the trail joins to climb to Pisang which sprawls between 3200m and 3300m. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 7 : Trek to Manang (3540m) 4hrs

Continue through the drier upper part of the Manang district, this district doesn’t get any rain during the time of the monsoon due to the Annapurna Range. People of this region are yak herders and raise crops for the part of the year. Leaving Pisang we have alternative trails north and south of the Marshyangdi River which meets up again at Mungji. From Mungji, the trail continues past the picturesque but partially hidden village of Bryanga at 3475m to nearby Manang. Overnight stay sat guesthouse,


Day 8 : Acclimatization Day at Manang village.

The next day we will spend around Manang for acclimatization. However, we do meet the villagers and talk with them and learn about their culture. The view from the village is also magnificent. At the end of the day, we return back to our accommodation and have a night rest. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 9 : Trek to Khangsar village (3700m 4hrs

From here we will continue our adventure for Tilicho lake, from Manang . Crossing the Khangsar Khola on the bridge below Khangsar (3700m) we ascend the slope to the village. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 10 : Trekking to Tilicho Base Camp (4200m) 5hrs

The next day we continue from Khangsar on a large path and pass a Gompa. We continue along the new path to reach a high ridge and descend on switch backs carved out through the screed slopes to a side valley. On another side of it is a building known as Tilicho Base Camp at elevation of 4200m. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 11 : Trek to Tilicho Lake (4919m) 6hrs

Stuffing the tummy with some delicious breakfast, we begin our day quite early at around 6 AM so as to avoid the wind that is quite strong later in the day. Six hours of trek from the Base Camp takes us to the beautiful Tilicho Lake, located at an altitude of close to 5000 meters. After we spend some time around Tilicho Lake, we will return same way back to Tilicho Base Camp (4200m). Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 12 : Trek to Yak Kharka (4000m) 6hrs

Returning from Base Camp you can keep high and follow a track 400m or so above Khangsar village passing through the ruins of old Khangsar and follow an unmarked trail which will lead you around and down to cross the river on an old log bridge between Gumsang and Yak kharka (4000m). Overnight stay at guesthouse,


Day 13 : Trek to Thorong Phedi (4450m) 4hrs

On the 13th day after ascending for two and half hour the trail descends to cross the river then climb up to Throng Phedi (4450m). Overnight stay at guesthouse,


Day 14 : Trek to Muktinath (3800m) via Thorong-La Pass (5416m).

Trek to Muktinath is very exciting as it is known as a place of Nirvana. It is said that once you visit Muktinath all the sorrows are comforted. Moreover, Muktinath is a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it consists of 108 waterspouts around it and the waters that come from there are supposed to be holy water. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 15 : Trek to Jomsom (2700m) 7hrs

The next day we trek from Muktinath to Jomsom. It takes around seven hours to return to Jomsom. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 16 : Flight to Pokhara

The next day, we take a flight to Pokhara from Jomsom which is around 30 minutes. Upon our arrival at the Pokhara Airport, we spend our rest of the time sightseeing around the beautiful valley. Overnight stay at guesthouse.


Day 17 : Drive back to Kathmandu

On the penultimate day of the tour package you will return to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Overnight stay at a hotel.


Day 18 : Departure from TIA, Farewell!

Something you really wish didn’t come, the end of your marvelous journey. Obviously, having you attached to this beautiful country, saying goodbye will be painful. You will be chauffeured to the airport and then make your departure.
